2024, ION I.C. BRĂTIANU - un destin pentru România Mare
Ion I. C. Brătianu, an outstanding personality in the modern history of Romania, has demonstrated through his political programme, decision making and accomplishments that he possessed the qualities of a great statesman, being in no way inferior to other important characters evolving on the European political stage of those times. Continuing the political direction initiated by his father — Ion C. Brătianu, to whom he often compared himself — Brătianu the son strove to bring to fruition a series of programs and reforms which were most essential towards the modernisation of the Romanian state. Possessing a real political affinity, as well as a special capacity for analysis and reflection, he made important decision in times of crisis — such the moment of the country’s intervention in World War One, when he strove towards the final goal, namely obtaining the recognition of Transylvania’s unification to Romania. Moreover, Brătianu undertook the realisation of the agrarian and electoral reforms, imposed the adoption of a new Constitution in 1923, and promoted alongside his colleagues a policy of economic development using the inspiring motto “Through Our Own Forces”.
