Employees' response to organizational change remains pivotal in determining the success of change initiatives, especially within public sector organizations. This study aims to explore the determinants of change readiness among civil servants. Data was gathered through surveys of 350 civil servants involved in organizational change processes. Various factors influencing change readiness were identified, and their direct impact was assessed. Furthermore, the study delved into the mediating role of adaptability in the relationship between these factors and change readiness. Results indicate that organizational identification exerts a positive yet statistically insignificant influence on employees' change readiness, while managerial climate significantly impacts employees' change readiness. Adaptability emerged as a mediator between these factors and employees' change readiness. This research contributes to understanding the determinants of employees' adaptability and change readiness, offering valuable insights into human resources management and organizational development.

Healthcare systems (HCS) all over the world are facing escalating challenges as a consequence of increasing life expectancy and the growth of the ageing population. PurposeConstruction management is enriched in many ways by direct and indirect support of lean construction concept. The objectives of this study are to assess the current level of awareness about lean construction practice, to identify the potential benefits and challenges to implement lean construction in the Bangladeshi construction industry and to prioritize them.Design/methodology/approachA comprehensive literature review has been done to design a questionnaire for the survey. The final questionnaire has been designed with 27 lean tools, 41 challenges, and seven benefits of implementing lean principles in the construction industry. Lean is one of the systematic approach to achieve higher value for organizations through eliminate non-value-added activities. It is an integrated set of tools, techniques, and principles designed to optimize cost, quality and delivery while improving safety. In Vietnam, industry waste management and treatment has become serious issue. The aim of this research is to present the effective of Lean application for industrial wastes collecting and delivery improvement. Through a case study, this paper showed the way of Lean tools and principles applied for wastes management and treatment such as Value Stream Mapping, Pull system, Visual Control, and Andon to get benefit on both economic and environment. In addition, the results introduced a good experience for enterprises in Vietnam and other countries have similar conditions to Vietnam in cost saving and sustainable development in waste management.

The growing emphasis on environmental sustainability has drawn considerable attention from both academia and industry practitioners. Factors such as escalating energy costs, heightened environmental degradation, and a burgeoning market demand for eco-friendly practices have compelled businesses to reassess their strategies through a green lens. Given that Lean principles are rooted in optimising operations to minimise waste across design and production processes, their synergy with the green paradigm is evident. However, despite the intuitive connection between Lean methodologies and environmental sustainability, the scholarly exploration of their impact remains largely underdeveloped. This research seeks to bridge this gap by conducting a comprehensive systematic literature review to dissect the current understanding of Lean manufacturing practices and their influence on environmental sustainability performance. The selected papers were meticulously screened and grouped into three clusters using the PRISMA diagram methodology. The primary objective was to discern the tangible effects of Lean practices on eco-efficiency performance and explore integrating Lean manufacturing principles with broader sustainable manufacturing approaches. A structured matrix was created to categorise and visualise the identified impacts gleaned from the initial articles. Nevertheless, the review revealed significant gaps in understanding, particularly regarding the factors that shape the efficacy of Lean manufacturing tools in enhancing eco-efficiency performance. The findings underscore the need for further research to unravel these complexities and delineate the mechanisms through which Lean practices contribute to environmental sustainability. Several avenues for future research have been delineated, focusing on how Lean manufacturing practices can be leveraged to support eco-efficiency performance effectively. While the preliminary findings shed light on the promising intersection between Lean principles and environmental sustainability, they also underscore the imperative for continued scholarly inquiry to unlock the full potential of Lean methodologies in fostering a greener industrial landscape.

Background, Motivation, and Objective -Inculcating critical thinking, teamwork, and lifelong learning are the basic tenets of Outcome Based Engineering Education (OBEE). Collaborative learning is one such pedagogy of engagement to achieve the same. In addition, the implementation of OBEE demands the adoption of corporate best practices in deploying new initiatives, which streamlines the process, removes waste in the process, and ensures sustainment of the improved process. Lean Thinking is one such approach adopted by the industry to ensure productivity, performance, and sustainment of new initiatives. The objective of this paper is to study the scope of collaborative learning in OBEE based on the Lean Thinking approach, and to explore its successful deployment in Indian higher education. Statement of Contribution/Methods -The research reported in this paper is based on Action Research methodology carried out using the Lean Thinking PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) approach and its application in improving OBEE through collaborative learning in India. STAD (Student-Teams-Achievement-Division) collaborative learning was deployed through heterogeneous group formation for enhancing the teaching-learning process. The Indo-Universal Collaboration on Engineering Education (IUCEE) consortium knowledge base and assistance has been effectively used to chalk out the strategy for effective deployment. Basic statistics and outlier analysis is used to draw the inferences. Results, Discussion, and Conclusions -The study describes the effective deployment of collaborative learning to enhance the effectiveness of the OBEE ecosystem through students" performance by utilizing the power of Lean Thinking. The study shows that not only Turn-Around-Time (TAT) of the deployment process is enhanced, but also the attainment of the students" performance. Moreover, it improves team spirit and team performance during the process. The paper is based on a single case study executed in an engineering college and hence, there is limitation in generalizing the specific results from the study. But the approach adopted and the learning from this study can be generalized. The study is of use to academicians, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers seeking to implement collaborative learning for an OBEE set-up with optimal utilization of the available resources based on the Lean Thinking platform in their organizations. A descriptive survey research design was applied. A Census of all the 6 companies listed inNairobi Securities Exchange as at July 2014 to July 2019 constituted the study population. Total quality management is a management approach with the goal to achieve customer satisfaction through product, service, and organizational culture improvement. ISO 9000 is a set of international standards that is developed for achieving an effective quality management system in order to satisfy customer needs. The concept of lean production is described as a systematic approach to reduce the number of defect products, and reduce the size of the warehouse, without lowering productivity. Six sigma includes tools, and techniques for improving processes regarding quality, and reducing the number of defect products. In this paper the differences, and similarities of total quality management, ISO 9001, lean production, and six sigma, will be investigated. The paper presents the criteria for successful implementation, and use of the mentioned concepts in various companies. The amount of risk that each concept brings is also evaluated. The goal of the paper is an analytic approach, and a concise description of quality management systems, and business performance imrpovement.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan daya saing Bank Perkreditan Rakyat (BPR) di Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). Metode deskriptif kuantitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini dan data diambil dari laporan keuangan BPR 2013-2020. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah semua BPR di Provinsi NTT yang berjumlah 12 BPR. Sampel dalam penelitian ini dipilih menggunakan purposive sampling dengan kriteria BPR yang mempublikasikan laporan keuangannya selama 8 tahun berturut-turut. Sampel yang didapatkan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 11 BPR. Daya saing dalam penelitian ini diukur dengan model diskriminan dari Altman ZScore dan IN05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 11 BPR, hanya 1 BPR (BPR Lugas Ganda) yang secara konsisten memiliki catatan daya saing yang baik dalam 8 tahun, dilihat dari skor diskriminan model Altman dan IN05 nya. The increasing complexity of manufacturing systems in highly competitive environments motivates the need for refinement of the design of manufacturing systems. The application of systems engineering is still undeveloped in some industries, but the potential benefits are substantial. However, there exists a chasm between the theory and practice of systems engineering applied to the design of manufacturing systems and existing lack of information sharing among organizations to enable right first time practices. To close this gap, the authors suggest systems engineering methods for supporting and enabling more effective and efficient design of manufacturing systems.

All companies expect an effective and efficient production system, however challenges regarding imperfect production system is inevitable. In this study, we investigate a case of a plastic toy company at the injection department. We found out that there is a waste that occurs in mold replacement activities. Since many items are taking a long time to work, we improve the system by implementing the method of Single-minute Exchange of Diess (SMED), one concept in lean manufacturing. We aim to provide a more effective and efficient exchange of the mold replacement process so that machine downtime can be reduced. The results from this study shows that there is an improvement of 33.25% in set-up time, that we get through eliminating and reducing the time for replacement of the mold to 276 minutes, which previously took 400 minutes. This study concluded that SMED is effective to reduce machine set-up time and increase the efficiency of the production process. That way, implementing the SMED method actually helps the company to improve the time replacement of mold in the injection department. Hasil yang didapat melalui penelian ini yaitu terjadi penurunan waktu set-up sebesar 33,25% dengan mempersingkat waktu pergantian cetakan (mold) menjadi 276 menit, dari yang sebelumnya membutuhkan waktu 400 menit. Metode ini efektif menekan downtime mesin dan menambah efisensi waktu proses produksi. The increase in supply chain efficiency through Lean manufacturing depends on three key factors: waste reduction along with better inventory control and supplier teamwork enhancement. The research evaluates how supply chain performance is influenced by lean principles namely Just-In-Time (JIT), Six Sigma and Total Quality Management (TQM). The research study incorporates three methods which include surveys with supply chain executives and case studies of major manufacturers along with statistical computations to measure direct benefits from lean implementation. Organizations that implement lean principles achieve major production improvements together with supply chain resilience while reducing costs. The analysis shows that companies face important barriers which include demanding cultural change and the necessary integration of advanced technologies. The study enhances existing knowledge by supplying experimental evidence about lean manufacturing's ability to promote sustainable supply chain operations.

Background. Discrete Event Simulation (DES) and Lean Healthcare are management tools that are efficient and assist in the quality and efficiency of health services. In this sense, the purpose of the study is to use lean principles jointly with DES to plan the expansion of a Canadian emergency department and to the demand that comes from small closed care centers. Methods. For this, we used simulation and modeling method. We simulated the emergency department in FlexSim Healthcare® software and, with the Design of Experiments (DoE), we defined the optimal number of locations and resources for each shift. Results. The results show that the ED cannot meet expected demand in the current state. Only 17.2% of the patients were completed treated, and the Length of Stay (LOS), on average, was 2213.7, with a confidence interval of (2131.8 - 2295.6) minutes. Muitos países têm enfrentado o desafio de melhorar os serviços de saúde oferecidos aos cidadãos em um cenário de austeridade. Para enfrentar esse desafio, a Engenharia de Produção pode oferecer respostas, como o Lean, a Simulação a Eventos Discretos e sua integração: o Lean Healthcare Simulation (LHS). Entretanto, apesar dos benefícios da integração, há ainda poucos estudos de LHS publicados. Uma das explicações para tal fato pode ser a dificuldade de realização dos projetos de LHS devido à complexidade e à multidisciplinaridade originadas da junção de três diferentes áreas: Lean, simulação e serviços de saúde. Por essa razão, o presente estudo tem como objetivo desenvolver um projeto de LHS que atenda às principais recomendações das três áreas e que sirva de exemplo à comunidade de serviços de saúde. Para tanto, foi desenvolvido um projeto de LHS no pronto atendimento de um hospital filantrópico localizado em Minas Gerais. O projeto apresentou resultados positivos que foram aceitos pela equipe, identificando a possibilidade de redução de cerca de 30% no tempo até o atendimento médico e de 33,7 pontos percentuais na taxa de não conformidades. O estudo contribui ao se contrapor a outros projetos de LHS identificados que não focam na melhoria dos resultados por meio da eliminação de desperdícios, não avaliam a variabilidade do processo e não utilizam testes estatísticos adequados para avaliar os resultados dos experimentos.

El objetivo de este trabajo es agregar valor al sistema productivo de una empresa dedicada a la elaboración de alimentos marplatense. Se estructura la situación problemática y se detectan sus causas principales mediante la aplicación de Soft Systems Methodology en combinación con simulación dinámica para modelar el comportamiento del sistema productivo. El problema detectado es la necesidad de aumentar la capacidad de producción para mejorar el cumplimento de las entregas pactadas con los clientes. Se plantea una propuesta de mejora en las actividades productivas que genera valor agregado para el cliente y la organización, permitiendo solucionar la situación actual. Se utiliza el software de simulación para modelar y comparar el sistema productivo actual y propuesto. Los resultados permiten concluir que la alternativa de mejora supera los niveles de producción deseados logrando un aumento del nivel de servicio al cliente. La propuesta reduce los desperdicios agregando valor y mejorando la competitividad de la organización.

Today's world competition has increased the pressure on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to adopt lean implementations. The purpose of this study is to make a small contribution by exploring the Lean Implementation Barrier (LIB) in SMEs through three case studies of SMEs in the city of Bandung. The study sought to examine the extent to which lean manufacturing tools and techniques are adopted by sugar processing industries in Kenya and their impact on factory time efficiency. The study was a survey covering five sugar processing industries which approved the study and those that have been in operation for more than three years. Purposive sampling was used to select a sample of 135 employees from production, engineering and quality assurance departments. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire consisting mainly of closedended questions and was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The motivation of the study was based on the contribution of the sugar sector to the Kenyan economy. The research revealed that companies in the sugar sector in Kenya have not given attention to all the key areas of lean manufacturing from a holistic perspective. The industry has only adopted practices related to lean manufacturing and there was little impact of these practices to factory time efficiency. Conclusions drawn from the research was that sugar processing industries in Kenya lack understanding of lean manufacturing concepts and have therefore not reaped the full benefits of lean implementation. Recommendations made were that the sugar industries in Kenya need a focused training on lean manufacturing to enable better understanding of lean manufacturing concepts among personnel and then give attention to the implementation of all areas of lean manufacturing from a holistic perspective for the industry to reap full benefits. The research has provided insights into the implementation of lean practices in a Kenyan context using survey data as opposed to case studies. Several practices and activities were selected associated with lean manufacturing and not specific to the sugar industry in Kenya. However, there may be other practices and activities that could be related to lean manufacturing and more relevant to the sugar sector that were not included in the study. There has been very little research in the area of lean manufacturing and therefore need for further research not only in the sugar sector but also in other areas of the Kenyan economy.

This thesis is one part of a lean project initiated by Luvata Sweden AB in Finspang casting department. The primary goal of that project is to increase the production efficiency, reduce costs and improve the quality of the copper coil. The aim of this thesis is to develop standardized work in casting department at Luvata Sweden AB Finspang. The research is based on lean thinking and organized in three steps. FIRST STEP: This step implies value stream mapping (VSM) of the current manufacturing process. VSM technique is applied in order to create an overview of the entirety production flow in a casting department, to visualize non-value added activities and to identify process wastes. SECOND STEP: By using lean tools as: Waste Management, SMED and Visual Management, thesis work intends to clean the production process. 7 Wastes or seven forms of Muda were studied at Luvata Finspang. The source of 5 wastes were identified and reduced/eliminated. SMED (single minute exchange of dies) analysis was carried out for a changeover during a casting montage in order to reduce the changeover time and streamline the montage process. Spaghetti diagram was applied particularly to inspect the best location for all montage materials, equipments and tools in a casting floor. Ensuring the efficient implementation of Waste Management and SMED practices Visual Management technique was used. This mean expresses the information about production process, its real-time status and results in a way that could be understood by operators in a shop floor. It is important to clean a production process before the standardized work can be developed, since the purpose of standardized work is to represent the best practice: method and sequence for each process. The last thesis step focuses on developing standardized work sheets as a steering tool for operators to follow the best practice while executing their tasks in each work center (melting, casting, rolling) and during the casting montage. The standardized work sheets are designed to show the approved way to perform the specific procedures and are expected to motivate operators to perform theirs job in the common way. That would consequently reduce high variation in operators performance.

PT XYZ merupakan salah satu perusahan di Jawa Timur yang bergerak di bidang agroindustri tebu dengan produk utama Gula Kristal Putih (GKP). Dalam proses produksi Gula Kristal Putih (GKP) masih terdapat berupa waste. Nowadays, in order for small and medium scale enterprises to excel in performance, it is necessary to have congruency among the manufacturing functions and the operational priorities. In this paper a model is presented to know the relationship between the manufacturing functions, operation priorities and manufacturing performance. Using data collected from small and medium scale manufacturing enterprises in Mumbai and suburban region, this study examines the seven hypothesis based on the relationship between manufacturing functions, priorities and performance. The structural equation model is tested using Amos7 software to test the hypothesis. The results show that there exists a positive relation between manufacturing functions and operation priorities as four out of six the dimensions measured such as Process control and implementation, Management of resources, Management of people, and Partnership with supplier are positively related, while two dimensions Training and developing and Teamwork are not positively related. Findings also support strong impact of operation priorities with growth in productivity as a measure of performance.

Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah memberikan usulan perbaikan berupa pembuatan checklist, SOP, pemberian himbauan dan pemenuhan sarana pendukung berdasarkan analisis defect tertinggi. Usulan perbaikan yang diberikan bertujuan untuk melakukan perbaikan berkesinambungan dan meningkatkan level sigma dari level 3,8321σ menjadi 4σ, 5σ atau bahkan 6σ.

Indian construction industry is passing through very unique phase. This situation leads to excellent opportunities for the construction industry in terms of business opportunity. This also leads to Indian economic growth even through FDI. Many national constructions housed such as Hindustan Construction Company, DLF, Tata projects and Larson & Turbo limited actively managing projects in India & Aboard. Job safety analysis (JSA) was one of the great methods used for the purpose of safety analysis. Here we approach the method on construction area and also elaborate our results. We are here provide a vast knowledge of various hazards developed in the construction department with their brief study and also give knowledge of solving and overcoming these hazards.

In this paper it is analysed the relationships between work organisation and quality systems in firms that uses some forms of advanced automation. Are characterised the existing quality control structures in the Portuguese industry, and the main factors that hidden or fosters the development of sociotechnical methods of quality control organisation strategies. Are analysed some industrial cases that explains more clearly the critical issues of the implementation of quality systems and work organisation systems. A few recommendations are given about the possibilities for the development of new forms of work organisation aith quality systems associated to automated manufacturing systems.

The article presents the results of research on the resilience of companies using management concepts such as Lean Management, Agile, and Six Sigma to the crises that companies have had to face in recent years: the COVID-19 pandemic, rising energy prices, and the war in Ukraine. The implementation of these management concepts should lead to process improvements and a reduction in the consumption of production resources, including energy. The aim of the study was to determine how these crises have affected the efficiency of companies and to determine whether the solutions used so far are sufficient or require modification. The authors used three research methods. Firstly, they analyzed the literature-scientific publications, studies, and expert reports. Secondly, they analyzed the financial results (net profits and share of Costs of Goods Sold in the value of Revenues) in the period before (2016-2019) and after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2023) of companies using Lean Management, Agile, and Six Sigma strategies and their combinations. To compare the effectiveness of these management methods, they also analyzed the financial results of international corporations and Polish companies. Third, they conducted a survey among Polish companies applying the Lean Management concept. The results of this research show that the crises of recent years, even if they caused a deterioration in financial performance, were short-lived as companies were able to adapt to the new conditions. Japanese companies using Lean Management increased their profits by an average of 55.56% between 2020 and 2023, and "Lean" American organizations even more (71.64%). Polish companies have been steadily increasing their profits for years (134.14% before the pandemic and 143.27% after the outbreak). The share of COGS will remain at a similar (high) level for many years to come. There are no significant increases in these costs due to crises in the companies' environment (e.g., increase in energy prices), and, on the other hand, there is no tendency for them to decrease in a large proportion of companies. In the years 2020-2023, the largest decreases in the share of these costs occurred in companies combining Lean and Six Sigma (-11.85%). In companies that use the Agile strategy, there was an increase of 8.05%. However, these are average data, and the analysis of the results of companies from individual groups leads to the conclusion that it is not only the management concept that is important, but also how it is implemented in a given company. In addition, streamlining processes only by eliminating waste is not enough these days. It is necessary to use modern technologies (digital technologies, Industry 4.0). Increasing the efficiency of production or logistics processes leads to a reduction in energy consumption and external costs. However, new, specialized solutions are needed. The issue of energy efficiency is indeed gaining more and more importance in companies and is included in management concepts, e.g., in Lean Management.
