We consider dark matter (DM) that interacts with ordinary matter exclusively through an electromagnetic anapole, which is the only allowed electromagnetic form factor for Majorana fermions. We show that unlike DM particles with an electric or magnetic dipole moment, anapole dark matter particles annihilate exclusively into fermions via purely p-wave interactions, while tree-level annihilations into photons are forbidden. We calculate the anapole moment needed to produce a thermal relic abundance in agreement with cosmological observations, and show that it is consistent with current XENON100 detection limits on the DM-nucleus cross-section for all masses, while lying just below the detection threshold for a mass ∼ 30 -40 GeV.

Fabrication of Cu/TiO 2 nanocomposite had been successfully performed. A nanocomposite was prepared by the insertion of metal (copper) in the TiO 2 nanoparticles. Cu/TiO 2 nanocomposite was deposited on the FTO glass used the spin coating method. Layers of Cu/TiO 2 nanocomposite were prepared in variations at 1, 2 and 3 layers. Spektrofotometer UV-VIS Lamda 25 was used to determine the optical characteristics and the energy gap of DSSC materials. El kahfi 100/I-V Meter and Keithley 2602A was used to determine the electrical properties of Cu/TiO 2 nanocomposite. UV-VIS result was showed that there increased absorption wavelength of Cu/TiO 2 nanocomposite and were able to decrease the energy gap. El kahfi was showed that the conductivity of the Cu/TiO 2 nanocomposite was 3.71x10 -2 (Ω -1 m -1 ). Keithley was showed that the highest efficiency in the 3 layers of Cu/TiO 2 nanocomposite of 0.011%.

The purposes of the present study were to (1) investigate the effects of the arm movement and initial knee joint angle employed in standing long jump by the ground reaction force analysis and three-dimensional motion analysis; and (2) investigate how the jump performance of the female gender related to the body configuration. Thirty-four healthy adult females performed standing long jump on a force platform with full effort. Body segment and joint angles were analyzed by three-dimensional motion analysis system. Using kinetic and kinematic data, the trajectories on mass center of body, knee joint angle, magnitude of peak takeoff force, and impulse generation in preparing phase were calculated. This study was conducted based on the assumption that the Sea Gypsy community adopted the simple life to some extent contains useful knowledge in the medical field. Thus, this study aims to identify that the cultural aspects of a community, including the use of alternative medicine, food as medication, as well as different daily activities with other communities, also influence a healthy body. This study uses qualitative methods through informal in-depth interviews with seven informants; non-participant observations, as well as notes taking during fieldwork. The study is carried out in a village named Kg. Bangau-Bangau, a settlement located at the water of the Semporna, Sabah. Analysis of the research findings is divided into two parts. The first part is about the practice of traditional medicine, medications taken and also the nourishment for the body fitness among the Sea Gypsy community at Kg. Bangau-Bangau. While the second part of the study findings analysis shows how the daily environment of the Sea Gypsy community in Semporna affect the body fitness in the forms of physical, emotional and social activities.

Usaha ini bertujuan untuk menjamin kesejahteraan pekebun kecil sawit antaranya melalui interaksi dan pendedahan terhadap kaedah penanaman serta aktiviti hiliran. Oleh itu, kajian dilakukan untuk mengenalpasti tindakbalas pekebun kecil sawit terhadap pelbagai inovasi dan teknologi yang diperkenalkan oleh agensi terbabit. Hal ini perlu diberi penekanan kerana maklumat daripada pihak agensi berkaitan menjelaskan bahawa produktiviti per hektar di kawasan kajian tidak mencapai sasaran pengeluaran yang ditetapkan oleh pihak agensi. Seramai 300 orang pekebun kecil sawit di daerah Lahad Datu, Semporna dan Tawau di Sabah telah ditemubual dengan menggunakan soal selidik. Hasil kajian dianalisis secara diskriptif bagi memahami kekangan pekebun kecil sawit terhadap penggunaan inovasi dan teknologi dalam penanaman kelapa sawit di kawasan kajian. Dapatan kajian mendapati majoriti pekebun kecil menjelaskan bahawa kekangan penggunaan inovasi dan teknologi berpunca daripada faktor pemilikan tanah, masalah akses kepada kredit, akses kepada pasaran output dan input serta kekangan terhadap sumber dan bukan sumber. Kekangan tersebut telah mewujudkan jurang interaksi antara organisasi dengan pekebun kecil sawit. Jurang berkenaan telah mendorong mereka untuk terus bergantung kepada orang tengah. Oleh itu, pihak agensi dan pekebun kecil sawit perlu bekerjasama untuk menambahbaik jurang dengan memberi penekanan terhadap program inovasi dan teknologi dalam institusi pekebun kecil.

Medical anthropologists play a unique role in redefining and repositioning the application of CAM in biomedical sciences. This article addresses the current state of knowledge regarding the distinction between medical anthropology and complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Participant observations of, and in-depth interviews with ten Malaysian Chinese women cancer survivors were carried out to study their CAM use during and after cancer treatment. The results provide insights about the patterns of CAM use as well as the social and cultural factors under-pining the choice of CAM used by cancer survivors before and after treatment. Populariti pengeluaran minyak sawit adalah sangat luar biasa. Sekitar 10 peratus daripada kegiatan pertanian dan perladangan dunia merupakan kawasan tanaman kelapa sawit global. Malah, 85% pengeluaran minyak sawit dihasilkan di Malaysia dan Indonesia. Minyak sawit juga telah meningkatkan pendapatan penduduk di kedua-dua buah negara, terutama kepada golongan petani. Namun, ada harga yang perlu dibayar akibat kegiatan pertanian kelapa sawit seperti kemusnahan alam sekitar, hak buruh dan hak asasi manusia yang seringkali diabaikan. Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk meneroka kaedah pertanian sawit lestari yang dijalankan oleh pekebun kecil kelapa sawit Orang Asli. Kajian ini dijalankan di salah sebuah kampung Orang Asli yang terletak di bahagian Pantai Timur Semenanjung Malaysia iaitu Kampung Sungai Mai, Jerantut, Pahang. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif, lapan orang petani Orang Asli telah ditemu bual secara berkala melalui persampelan rawak mudah dan bola salji. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa petani Orang Asli mengusahakan pertanian mereka sebagai bentuk pemilikan tanah yang juga merupakan salah satu prasyarat MSPO. Pertanian keluarga merupakan langkah seterusnya untuk mewujudkan pertanian lestari selain menangani penebangan hutan melalui kegiatan penanaman kelapa sawit.

Se prepararon sólidos micro/mesoporosos del tipo MOR/MCM-41, con diferentes relaciones Si/Al. Para esto se colocó 3,15g de zeolita en solución de NaOH 3M y se agitó la suspensión por 30 min. Luego se agregaron 40 g de una solución de bromuro de hexadeciltrimetil-amonio (CTAB al 16% p/p) y se agitó por 30 minutos nuevamente. La mezcla fue depositada en un reactor de acero revestido de teflón y tratada hidrotérmicamente a 373 K por 24 h. Después de esto, el pH fue ajustado a 8,5. La mezcla fue depositada nuevamente en el reactor por 24 h más a 373 K. El producto sólido fue recuperado por filtración y se lavó con etanol y agua desionizada, para posteriormente secarlo en aire a 353 K y luego calcinarlo 6 h a 823 K. The critical exponents and magnetocaloric properties of La 0.7 Sr 0.3 Mn 1Àx Ti x O 3 with x = 0 and 0.05 have been explored via magnetic measurements. The magnetic data analyzed in the critical region by using modified Arrott plots, the Kouvel-Fisher method, and the scaling hypothesis reveal values for the critical parameters of b = 0.3165 and 0.3027, c = 1.1121 and 1.203, and d = 4.7556 and 4.833 for x = 0 and x = 0.05 respectively. These values are in agreement with the three-dimensional (3D) Ising model. The n values obtained from the law DS max ¼ aðl 0 HÞ n are 0.648 and 0.685. The maximum values of the magnetic entropy change are 1.65 J/kg K and 1.46 J/kg K under a magnetic field change of 10 kOe for x = 0.00 and 0.05, respectively. These results can be explained in the scenario of the short-range interaction and the phase separation as well as the diluted magnetic effect in manganites.

En este artículo se presenta el diseño, construcción y funcionamiento de un dispositivo móvil de detección de gases o Nariz electrónica, con capacidad de ser controlado y monitoreado en tiempo real de manera remota vía WiFi. En primer lugar, se presenta los componentes principales de la nariz electrónica, como lo son sensores de gas y las tarjetas controladoras, quienes permiten la comunicación y el monitoreo de forma inalámbrica y en tiempo real. Seguido tenemos el diseño mecánico conformado por servomotores, ruedas y chasis, que permite el acople de la nariz electrónica y le brinda movilidad y soporte. Posteriormente se incluye información referente al contenido de la programación de los diferentes componentes, software utilizado y su funcionamiento. Finalmente se plantea la posibilidad de utilizar este dispositivo como una solución de bajo costo al problema que representa para el hombre la medición de diferentes concentraciones de gases, ya sea en lugares desconocidos o difíciles de acceder y que presenten algún tipo de riesgo a la integridad individual o colectiva.

IS Success Model dan TAM di bawah bimbingan Fitroh dan Nidaul Hasanati. Sistem informasi akademik (SIAKAD) merupakan sistem informasi akademik berbasis web pada Universitas Sahid Jakarta yang saat ini digunakan untuk membantu penyelenggaraan kegiatan pengisian Kartu Rencana Studi (KRS), pengambilan Kartu Hasil Studi (KHS), penjadwalan kuliah, validasi dosen penasihat akademik, informasi beasiswa, informasi pembayaran kuliah, dan pendaftaran wisuda. Namun, saat ini belum diketahui sejauh mana keberhasilan dari SIAKAD yang telah diimplementasikan dan adanya permasalahan berupa keinginan Universitas Sahid Jakarta membangun sistem informasi manajemen kampus yang handal dan go online, serta menciptakan manajemen sistem kampus yang terkomputerisasi sehingga dapat dirasakan manfaatnya oleh civitas akademik, penambahan fitur terhadap SIAKAD sebelum diajukan terhadap SEVIMA terlebih dahulu pihak Universitas Sahid Jakarta perlu mengetahui berdasarkan kebutuhan yang diperlukan user. Salah satu faktor penentu keberhasilan sebuah sistem yang diterapkan adalah dari sisi persepsi penggunanya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan dan mengetahui variabel yang signifikan terhadap keberhasilan Sistem informasi akademik dengan menggunakan pendekatan DeLone and McLean IS Success Model dan TAM yang diadaposi dari penelitian Laksono (2017) mengkombinasikan hubungan jalur variabel Service Quality terhadap Perceived Ease of Use karena menurut kualitas yang diberikan oleh sebuah website dapat mempengaruhi bagaimana tingkat kemudahan dalam penggunaannya. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif, penyebaran kuesioner secara online dengan 30 pernyataan, dan analisis data demografis dengan Microsoft Excel 2013 sedangkan analisis PLS-SEM dengan SmartPLS 3.2.8. Hasilnya dari 12 jalur hubungan variabel, 3 hubungan jalur variabel dinyatakan tidak signifikan dan ditolak karena nilai path coefficient dan T-test (System Quality, Information Quality) kurang dari 0.1 dan 1.96, sedangkan 9 hubungan jalur variabel dinyatakan signifikan dan diterima karena nilai path coefficient dan T-test dari kesembilan jalur hubungan variabel tersebut berada di ambang batas yaitu 0.1 dan 1.96. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi menjadi salah satu bahan pertimbangan dalam pengambilan keputusan pihak penyedia layanan sistem informasi akademik untuk dapat diterapkan lebih maksimal.

Arti cial Life and the more general area of Complex Systems does not have a uni ed theoretical framework although most theoretical work in these areas is based on simulation. This is primarily due to an insu cient representational power of the classical mathematical frameworks for the description of discrete dynamical systems of interacting objects with often complex internal states. Unlike computation or the numerical analysis of di erential equations, simulation does not have a well established conceptual and mathematical foundation. Simulation is an arguable unique union of modeling and computation. However, simulation also quali es as a separate species of system representation with its own motivations, characteristics, and implications. This work outlines how simulation can be rooted in mathematics and shows which properties some of the elements of such a mathematical framework has. The properties of simulation are described and analyzed in terms of properties of dynamical systems. It is shown how and why a simulation produces emergent behavior and why the analysis of the dynamics of the system being simulated always is an analysis of emergent phenomena. Indeed, the single fundamental class of properties of the natural world that simulation will open to new understanding, is that which occurs only in the dynamics produced by the interactions of the components of complex systems. Simulation o ers a synthetic, formal framework for the experimental mathematics of representation and analysis of complex dynamical systems. A notion of a universal simulator and the de nition of simulatability is proposed. This allows a description of conditions under which simulations can distribute update functions over system components, thereby determining simulatability. The connection between the notion of simulatability and the notion of computability is de ned and the concepts are distinguished. The basis of practical detection methods for determining e ectively non-simulatable systems in practice is presented. The conceptual framework is illustrated through examples from molecular self-assembly end engineering.

Knowledge of fundamental traffic flow characteristics of traffic simulation models is an essential requirement when using these models for the planning, design, and operation of transportation systems. In this paper we discuss the following: a description of how features relevant to traffic flow are currently under implementation in the TRANSIMS microsimulation, a proposition for standardized traffic flow tests for traffic simulation models, and the results of these tests for two different versions of the TRANSIMS microsimulation.

Protecting secrets is a key challenge in our contemporary information-based era. In common situations, however, revealing secrets appears unavoidable, for instance, when identifying oneself in a bank to retrieve money. In turn, this may have highly undesirable consequences in the unlikely, yet not unrealistic, case where the bank's security gets compromised. This naturally raises the question of whether disclosing secrets is fundamentally necessary for identifying oneself, or more generally for proving a statement to be correct. Developments in computer science provide an elegant solution via the concept of zero-knowledge proofs: a prover can convince a verifier of the validity of a certain statement without facilitating the elaboration of a proof at all. In this work, we report the experimental realisation of such a zero-knowledge protocol involving two separated verifier-prover pairs. Security is enforced via the physical principle of special relativity, and no computational assumption (such as the existence of one-way functions) is required. Our implementation exclusively relies on offthe-shelf equipment and works at both short (60 m) and long distances (400 m) in about one second. This demonstrates the practical potential of multi-prover zero-knowledge protocols, promising for identification tasks and blockchain-based applications such as cryptocurrencies or smart contracts.

The foundation of zero-knowledge is the simulator : a weak machine capable of pretending to be a weak verifier talking with allpowerful provers. To achieve this, simulators need some kind of advantage such as the knowledge of a trapdoor. In existing zero-knowledge multiprover protocols, this advantage is essentially signalling, something that the provers are explicitly forbidden to do. This advantage is stronger than necessary, as it is possible to define a sense in which simulators need much less to simulate. We define a framework in which we can quantify the simulators' non-local advantage and exhibit examples of zero-knowledge protocols that are sound against local or entangled provers that are not sound against no-signalling provers precisely because the no-signalling simulation strategy can be adopted by malicious provers.

Secure multi-party computing, also called secure function evaluation, has been extensively studied in classical cryptography. We consider the extension of this task to computation with quantum inputs and circuits. Our protocols are information-theoretically secure, i.e. no assumptions are made on the computational power of the adversary. For the weaker task of verifiable quantum secret sharing, we give a protocol which tolerates any t < n/4 cheating parties (out of n). This is shown to be optimal. We use this new tool to show how to perform any multi-party quantum computation as long as the number of dishonest players is less than n/6.

The purpose of this research is to broaden the understanding of how resilience influences employee career commitment in the world of work mediated by work engagement and moderated by role modelling. A quantitative study using an online questionnaire was conducted on 415 millennial generation respondents who worked in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector in Indonesia. Structural Equation Method (SEM) using AMOS was used to analyze the hypotheses. The analysis's findings indicated that work engagement's mediating effect on resilience to career commitment had a positive and significant effect. Analysis findings also revealed that the role of role modelling as a moderator was able to strengthen the link between ego-resilience and career commitment through work engagement. FMCG companies need to pay attention to and improve employee resilience which in turn will increase employee work engagement, and ultimately affect employee career commitment.

This paper presents the simulation of sensorless operation of permanent magnet brushless direct current (BLDC) motor. The position sensorless BLDC drive simulated, in this paper, is based on detection of zero crossing from the terminal voltages differences. This method relies on a difference of line voltages measured at the terminals of the motor. It is shown, in the paper, that this difference of line voltages provides an amplified version of an appropriate back EMF at its zero crossings. The commutation signals are obtained without the motor neutral voltage. The effectiveness of this method is demonstrated through simulation.

The commutation signals are obtained without the motor neutral voltage. The effectiveness of this method is demonstrated through simulation.

O leite e importante fonte de renda e garante a subsistencia de grande parcela da agricultura familiar. Este trabalho teve como objetivo comparar custos de producao leiteira nos sistemas de producao em transicao agroecologica (ST) e sistemas de producao convencional (SC) na regiao da Cantuquiriguacu-PR. A metodologia utilizada foi estudo comparativo de casos, mediante amostragem nao aleatoria, por julgamento. Identificou-se que os produtores pertencentes ao grupo do ST apresentaram custo medio ponderado anual do leite de R$0,34 e o SC de R$0,58. Os dados da pesquisa evidenciam que o ST apresenta melhores resultados financeiros aos agricultores familiares. A alimentacao dos animais foi o item de maior peso no custo do leite durante todo ano no SC.

Considerando a importância dos mercados institucionais para a agricultura familiar o presente estudo tem por objetivo geral investigar a situacao da implementacao do PAA no Territorio Cantuquiriguacu, bem como a percepcao dos diversos atores envolvidos em sua execucao. Para tanto se utilizou primeiramente a pesquisa em bancos de dados da CONAB para conhecer os numeros oficiais e na sequencia deu-se a pesquisa de campo, a qual buscou predominantemente informacoes qualitativas junto aos diversos atores envolvidos no dia-a-dia de sua operacionalizacao. Percebe-se a aplicacao significativa de recursos no Territorio (2010-2016), que sua execucao via CONAB se da unicamente por meio de cooperativas e associacoes e que o programa e bem avaliado por parte das entidades que recebem os produtos. No entanto, existem inumeros entraves os quais demandam solucoes para que efetivamente o programa se firme como um promotor de desenvolvimento sustentavel na agricultura familiar.

Resumo: O desenvolvimento de atividades produtivas com maior valor percebido e sustentabilidade ambiental tem sido um dos maiores desafios do Brasil na atualidade. Nos últimos anos o Território Cantuquiriguaçu, tem vivenciado a ampliação de diversas iniciativas ligadas à agroecologia no sentido de reforçar os processos e práticas de produção de alimentos saudáveis, contribuindo para geração de emprego e renda para os agricultores familiares da região. No assentamento 08 de Junho, localizado no município de Laranjeiras do Sul -PR, está em vias de instalação um laticínio de leite orgânico e derivados. Em vista de fortalecer essa experiência ações de ensino, pesquisa e extensão tem sido executadas na Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul, visando o desenvolvimento técnico e o fortalecimento da gestão desta nova organização. Parte destas ações tem focalizado o desenvolvimento de um plano de marketing para este empreendimento. Nesse contexto, o objetivo do presente estudo é compreender os hábitos de consumidores de lácteos convencionais e a intenção de aquisição de produtos lácteos orgânicos no município de Cascavel, Paraná. A metodologia utilizada foi qualitativa, com a realização de um levantamento exploratório com 142 entrevistados em 3 supermercados de grande porte da região central da cidade. A amostra foi não probabilística e por conveniência. O questionário foi desenvolvido, tabulado e analisado por meio do aplicativo Sphinx. Os resultados revelaram que os potenciais consumidores de produtos lácteos orgânicos procuram aspectos mais inovadores no produto que apenas o fato de ser orgânico, tem interesse de adquirir produtos lácteos orgânicos, mas não estão dispostos a pagar um preço muito diferenciado por esses produtos, por fim preferem os supermercados como principal canal de comercialização. Mn doping of group-IV semiconductors (Si/Ge) is achieved by embedding nanostructured Mn-layers in group-IV matrix. The Mn-nanostructures are monoatomic Mn-wires or Mn-clusters and capped with an amorphous Si or Ge layer. The precise fabrication of δ-doped Mn-layers is combined with element-specific detection of the magnetic signature with x-ray magnetic circular dichroism. The largest moment (2.5 μB/Mn) is measured for Mn-wires with ionic bonding character and a-Ge overlayer cap; a-Si capping reduces the moment due to variations of bonding in agreement with theoretical predictions. The moments in δ-doped layers dominated by clusters is quenched with an antiferromagnetic component from Mn–Mn bonding.

O leite esta entre os seis produtos mais importantes da agropecuaria brasileira e desempenha um papel relevante no suprimento de alimentos e na geracao de emprego e renda para a agricultura familiar. Entretanto, busca-se aprofundar estudos sobre a atividade leiteira, diante das diferencas entre unidades produtivas (UP) com producao de leite com tecnicas Agroecologica (UPA), em transicao (UPT) para orgânico e convencional (UPC). A coupled wave-vegetation simulation is presented for the moving effect of the coastal vegetation on tsunami wave height damping. The problem is idealized by solitary wave propagation on a group of emergent cylinders. The numerical model is based on general Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with renormalization group turbulent closure model by using volume of fluid technique. The general moving object (GMO) model developed in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code Flow-3D is applied to simulate the coupled motion of vegetation with wave dynamically. The damping of wave height and the turbulent kinetic energy along moving and stationary cylinders are discussed. The simulated results show that the damping of wave height and the turbulent kinetic energy by the moving cylinders are clearly less than by the stationary cylinders. The result implies that the wave decay by the coastal vegetation may be overestimated if the vegetation was represented as stationary state.

A novel printed antenna fed by a microstrip line is designed for wideband application in the X-band. The antenna provides a wide bandwidth of over 60% relative to -10 dB, stable far field radiation characteristics in the entire operating band with relatively high gain, low cross polarization, wide beamwidth and good front-to-back ratio.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa pada pokok bahasan bangun datar. Metode penelitian ini merupakan kualitatif deskriptif, dengan mendeskripsikan indikator kemampuan koneksi matematis mana saja yang paling mudah dan sukar untuk dikuasai siswa. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah  Siswa kelas VIII SMPN 7 Cimahi sebanyak 39 siswa. Insteumen yang digunakan yaitu soal tes kemampuan komunikasi matematik yang mengacu pada indikator kemampuan koneksi matematik. Berdasarkan analisis data bahwa siswa menguasai dengan baik indikator kemampuan koneksi dalam kemampuan siswa dalam mengenali hubungan pokok bahasan yang berbeda dalam matematika, dan menggunakan matematika dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, serta siswa mengalami kesusahan pada indikator koneksi dalam menggunakan matematika dalam studi lainnya.

We investigate the magnetic excitations of the hyperhoneycomb Kitaev magnet 𝛽-Li 2 IrO 3 by means of inelastic Raman scattering. The spectra exhibits a coexistence of a broad scattering continuum and two sharp low-energy peaks at 2.5 meV and 3 meV, with a distinctive polarization dependence. While the continuum is suggestive of fractional quasi-particles emerging from a proximate quantum spin liquid phase, the sharp peaks provide the first experimental signature of the 'non-Loudon-Fleury' one-magnon scattering processes proposed recently [Phys. Rev. B 104, 144412 (2021)]. The corresponding microscopic mechanism is similar to the one leading to the symmetric off-diagonal exchange interaction Γ (as it involves a combination of both direct and ligand-mediated exchange paths), but is otherwise completely unexpected within the traditional Loudon-Fleury theory of Raman scattering. The present experimental verification therefore calls for a drastic reevaluation of Raman scattering in similar systems with strong spin orbit coupling and multiple exchange paths.

We report the existence of a high temperature magnetic anomaly in the 3D Kitaev candidate material, β-Li2IrO3. Signatures of the anomaly appear in magnetization, heat capacity and muon spin relaxation measurements. The onset coincides with a re-ordering of the principal axes of magnetization which is thought to be connected to the onset of Kitaev-like correlations in the system. The anomaly also shows magnetic hysteresis with a spatially anisotropic magnitude that follows the spin-anisotropic exchange anisotropy of the underlying Kitaev Hamiltonian. We discuss possible scenarios for a bulk and impurity origin.

Charge order is now accepted as an integral constituent of cuprate high-temperature superconductors, one that is intimately related to other instabilities in the phase diagram including antiferromagnetism and superconductivity . Unlike nesting-induced Peierls-like density waves, the charge correlations in the CuO 2 planes have been predicted to display a rich momentum space topology depending on the detailed fermiology of the system . However, to date charge order has only been observed along the high-symmetry Cu-O bond directions. Here, using resonant soft X-ray scattering, we investigate the evolution of the full momentum space topology of charge correlations in T -Ln 2 CuO 4 (Ln=Nd, Pr) as a function of intrinsic electron doping. We report that, upon electron doping the parent Mott insulator, charge correlations first emerge in a hitherto-unobserved form, with full (C inf ) rotational symmetry in momentum-space. At higher doping levels, the orientation of charge correlations is sharply locked to the Cu-O bond high-symmetry directions, restoring a more conventional bidirectional charge order with enhanced correlation lengths. Through charge susceptibility calculations, we closely reproduce the drastic evolution in the topology of charge correlations across an antiferromagnetic quantum phase transition, highlighting the interplay between spin and charge degrees of freedom in electron-doped cuprates. Finally, using the established link between charge correlations and the underlying fermiology, we propose a revised phase diagram of T -Ln 2 CuO 4 with a superconducting region extending toward the Mott limit.

Magnetic honeycomb iridates are thought to show strongly spin-anisotropic exchange interactions which, when highly frustrated, lead to an exotic state of matter known as the Kitaev quantum spin liquid. However, in all known examples these materials magnetically order at finite temperatures, the scale of which may imply weak frustration. Here we show that the application of a relatively small magnetic field drives the three-dimensional magnet β-Li2IrO3 from its incommensurate ground state into a quantum correlated paramagnet. Interestingly, this paramagnetic state admixes a zig-zag spin mode analogous to the zig-zag order seen in other Mott-Kitaev compounds. Improving the sensitivity of existing biosensors for highly sensitive detection of magnetic nanoparticles as biomarkers in biological systems is an important and challenging task. Here, we propose a method of combining the magneto-resistance (MR), magneto-reactance (MX), and magneto-impedance (MI) effects to develop an integrated magnetic biosensor with tunable and enhanced sensitivity. A systematic study of the 7 nm Fe3O4 nanoparticle concentration dependence of MR, MX, and MI ratios of a soft ferromagnetic amorphous ribbon shows that these ratios first increase sharply with increase in particle concentration (0–124 nM) and then remain almost unchanged for higher concentrations (124 nM–1240 nM). The MX-based biosensor shows the highest sensitivity. With this biosensor, ∼2.1 × 1011 7 nm Fe3O4 nanoparticles can be detected over a detection area of 2.0 × 105 μm2, which is comparable to a superconducting quantum interference device biosensor that detects the presence of ∼1 × 108 11 nm ...
