Grace Lee Boggs reminds us that everything we know of ourselves and the world comes through conversation. Every idea here was born with someone: in cars, cafés, couches, conferences, and classrooms. My deepest thanks to all those named and unnamed who co-journeyed with me. Professional journeys and book writing are long and tenuous processes, especially in academia today. Like many academic books, this one began as a PhD dissertation and with a writing group. I am deeply grateful for almost fifteen years of thinking, communing, and togetherness with Chika Watanabe and Gökçe Günel. Thank you for being my touchstones on this crazy journey. With Melissa Rosario, Aftab Jassal, and Courtney Work, we made an unflappable writing community that set the tone for years to come. My dissertation committee supported and challenged me in all the right ways. Annelise Riles provided a bedrock of enthusiasm, while demanding courage, originality, and disciplinary care. Lucinda Ramberg made me kin, inviting me into her home and life, and taught me how to blur the personal, ethical, affective, and intellectual with the most joyous results. My studies with Stacey Langwick were intellectually transformative, exciting, and full of mirth. Durba Ghosh always asked the big questions, reminding me of the unsaid and what's at stake. Her tenacity and curiosity continue to inspire me. I also thank the teachers who forged an intellectual path for me early in life: Misty

ABSTRACT: Bearing in mind the alarming growth of both individual and collective vulnerabilities, we cast a light upon the promising resurgence of a psychoanalytic praxis more sensitive to the social context and willing to leave the comfort zone of the private praxis to reclaim its stand in public spaces. By reclaiming the history of the free clinics ventured at by the first generation of psychoanalysts and drawing upon the testimony of several social-oriented clinical experiences to the center of the debate, we aim to draw attention to some key features of a psychoanalytic endeavor committed to the current social-political context and the driving forces towards its eventual growth.

[Ilana's research supervised by me] This paper aims to discuss the policies within the psychological clinical device in Brazil. We performed a bibliographic cartography in the Brazilian academic literature regarding the key words "clinic" and "politics". The research resulted in the identification of psychopolitical characteristics of the clinic, which were categorized into four axes. In analogy to Pandora's box myth, these axes represent the evils released, as well as hope at the bottom: (a) colonizing practices, which move towards the maintenance of a hegemonic subjectivity colonized by European standards; (b) psychotechnocracy, practices that promote a universal truth about human beings and their behavior; (c) capitalization of care, a practice impregnated and guided by neoliberal logic; and (d) hope, proposition about a politicized and transformative clinical practice. Keywords:clinic, politics, device, psychology

Abstract: merging in the 1960's, the clinical legal education movement promoted an important dual mission–the training of law students in practical client advocacy and the service of under and un-served communities. These laudable goals spawned a movement ...

In order to characterize a typical clinical context, as opposed to an academic or research context, this article will analyze the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of patients who turn to a psychology clinic in need of professional help. This study was conducted using an initial sample of 1,305 patients at the

University practicum clinics have long been part of training in clini-cal and counseling psychology. For example, Witmer's Psychological Clinic, founded at the University of Pennsylvania in 1896, featured intensive case studies of children and some adults from the Philadelphia community: Clients were assessed and treated by a multidisciplinary team using clinical and researchbased methods (Hawkins, 2001; McReynolds, 1996).

This paper describes the possibility of a planetary Lacan. It is planetary in that it regards the increasingly global appeal of psychoanalysis as a chance to ground clinical practice within concrete non-Western historical circumstances. Modernisation is hereby understood as a convergence of different histories rather than an inevitable process of Westernization. My argument turns to ‘Aggressiveness in Psychoanalysis’ to show that for Lacan the clinic is designed not for an abstract universal subject but to address the enclosed individual of Western society. Instead of assuming that the clinic can be exported anywhere, he anticipates a future ‘confluence of forms.’ I turn to the hybridity Malay-Southeast Asian health practices for examples of this confluence wherein modern-Western medicine is entangled with ‘non-modern’ treatments. Grasping Lacan’s relevance for the global south requires that the clinic too should be misrecognised as it encounters different cultural articulations of ...
