The aim of this study is to identify the role agriculture plays in the economic development of Romania. Consequently, we studied the specialized literature, which analyzes the relationship between agriculture and the economic development, as well as the role of agriculture in reducing poverty. In order to study the impact on Romanian economy of the shift from a centralized economy to the market economy, we use four variables of which the independent one is represented by the added value of agriculture, and the other three variables are dependent, they only slightly characterize Romanian economy: the GDP/capita, inflation consumer prices and external debt stocks. Conclusions show that the increase of the added value in agriculture positively influences the evolution of the GDP/capita. At the same time, it also exercises a major influence on inflation, thus the positive correlation highlights the fact that the annual percentage of the purchase price of a consumer basket will decrease ...
Review on Agriculture and Rural Development
Agriculture represent one of the most important branches of the Romanian economy. Within performing the suggested analysis we started from the premise that the economy of each country, regardless of developing degree, agriculture, by natural and human resources available, by contributing to the creation of gross domestic product, of gross value added, but also by participating at internal and external trade, obviously holds an important position. Romanian rural economy is currently dominated in a large part by agriculture. Favorable geographical conditions, topography, climate, fertile soils, in addition with workforce, a suitable administrative system, but the connection of rural population to land and animals can make the Romanian agriculture as production branch attractive and profitable to determine economic growth at national level. Thus, we considered necessary to perform an analysis concerning the importance of Romanian agriculture, analysis that represents the basis for find...

Considering the index report for the present and previous years, Romania plays an active role in the growth process of the European Economy; from this point of view, we can be confident that the agriculture convergence is a close and realistic objective, as well as the industrial and services sectors’ development. The stability of the economic space in the United Europe is supported by steady efforts of the new member-states: among them, our country is called to set up a post-accession set of solutions fit for agriculture and industries targeting to make permanent the high rate of economic growth. This will enable the increasing quality of life, the reducing poverty-especially in the rural zones, maximizing of the effects of consumed resources (raising the agriculture productivity). The agricultural sector, as a fundamental ground for all the economy, is made by competitive employed people, in the service of all the citizens and such a crucial resource always should be reasonable ad...
Romania's accession to the European Community has facilitated access for economic entities to international financing. One of the economic sectors that benefited from these external sources of financing was the agricultural sector. In Romania, the agricultural sector amounted to nearly 86 billion RON in 2018, a substantial increase of 88.66% compared to 2007. The purpose of this article is to observe, during 2007-2019, the evolution of the main indicators that characterize the agricultural sector in Romania, focusing on the situation of the Western region of Romania. The main conclusions of this article highlight the effect of European funds on the development of the agricultural sector in the western region of Romania.

Agriculture is a sector of the national economy which may represent a significant contribution to the economic growth if it is quantified properly. In Romania agriculture has declined significantly caused by various reasons. In frame of this study, we will attempt to discern their influence using official statistics. We will try to identify the place and the role of agriculture in Romania's actual economy from the perspective of GDP, investment in agriculture, the employment of this sector activity, because romanian agriculture remains an important sector in terms of view of agricultural area used, the contribution to GDP and, in particular, the percentage of the population employed.

This paper seeks to analyze the impact of agricultural investments on economic growth in rural communities in Romania. It answers the question: are the investments in agriculture a determinant of economic growth in rural communities, and if yes, what is their impact on economic growth? The objectives are to identify, through linear regression models, the intensity and meaning of the relationships between the value of investments and the main indicators that can express economic growth in rural areas. In this purpose, the level of relationships between the value of investments in agriculture and the value of GDP in predominantly rural areas, the value of GDP in agriculture and the value of the agricultural production are analyzed. The main results show that the variables chosen are influenced by the value of the investments in different proportions, so the hypothesis that investment in agriculture has a positive and medium impact on rural economic growth is true. The most significant relationship is obtained between the value of agricultural investments and the value of agricultural production.

The agriculture development needs measures, and one of the main indicators that quantifies the results obtained is the value of agricultural production. In the present paper is studied this indicator through its structure in the vegetal, animal and agricultural services sector. It is also studied the impact of EU accession on agricultural production value. To capture the structural differences, the results are divided into two periods: the period 20012006, representing the period before EU accession and the period 2007-2012, representing the period after EU accession. To these data were added statistical calculations using the mean, the standard deviation and coefficient of variation to determine the homogeneity of the data.

It is without doubt that the main modality to increase agriculture contribution to the general economic growth is the capital injection into economic factors (investments that create jobs, increase production and productivity on the agricultural holdings, develop infrastructure in the rural areas), the best use of financial resources by funding systems adequate to the present situation whose effects should stop the economic decline and subsequently generate economic growth.

The main objective of the paper is to identify the structural factors that led to a chronic insufficiency of the Romanian agri-food domestic supply in the last decades. The paper makes an update and re-evaluation of problems related to Romania's agriculture production potential, in the context of the current evolutions of the agrarian and production structures and of the possible effects of the Common Agricultural Policy Reform. The changes produced in the last decade are investigated with regard to farm consolidation, increase of farm area, agricultural land operation modality and land market problems. At the same time, the production structures are also analyzed in relation to farm size. The main conclusion of the study is that the current agrarian structures contribute by different modalities to ensuring the domestic agricultural supply and food security. The calculation of certain statistical indicators on production variability and its diversification on the large, medium and small-sized farms revealed the strong specialization of production on the large farms and production diversification on the small farms.

The current study aims to highlight the main deficiencies that defined the fundamental sector of the Romanian economy in the modern period, agriculture. In this case, we are witnessing a paradox, Romania s specialization in this traditional occupation, the majority rural population, the soil of an exceptional quality being only the elements of a not exploited to its true value potential. We therefore propose an analysis of the way of organization and operation of the agricultural holdings, both of the small and the large farming, emphasising the insufficiencies that characterized these holdings, contributing majorly to the lack of performance of this key economic sector.

As based on available data sets from the World Bank’s Yearbook (2008), a statistical analysis was made to highlight some characteristics of Romanian agriculture during 1961-2003. It is presented a series of models (Grabowski and Sivan (1986)) and econometric methods used to analyse supply and demand of the labour force in agriculture. This included an estimated regression model for analyzing the evolution of added value in agriculture during 1980-2003 according to a number of infl uencing factors. To characterize the concentration of agricultural production by development regions the Herfi ndahl Index was utilised.
